‘Trump’ and ‘Netanyahu’ Buffaloes Go Viral in Bangladesh Ahead of Eid
Two heavyweight buffaloes near Dhaka are attracting crowds after locals said they resemble global political leaders
17-05-2026As Bangladesh gears up for Eid al-Adha, two buffaloes from farms near Dhaka have unexpectedly become internet sensations. Their growing popularity has little to do with livestock markets and everything to do with the belief among visitors that the animals bear a striking resemblance to former US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
One of the animals, informally dubbed “Trump,” weighs close to 700 kilograms. Farm visitors point to its unusually light-toned hide and tuft of pale hair, saying the look reminds them of the American leader’s distinctive hairstyle. People have been lining up to snap photos, with some joking that despite the physical similarity, the buffalo appears far more mild-mannered.
According to the owner, the nickname was coined within the family after they noticed the buffalo’s rare colouring. He explained that albino buffaloes are typically docile creatures unless disturbed. Reports indicate that the animal has already been purchased ahead of the festival.
In Narayanganj, another buffalo has gained similar fame after being compared to Netanyahu. This one, tipping the scales at over 750 kilograms, is described as far more temperamental. Farm staff say it often snorts, lunges unexpectedly, and behaves in a way that has only fueled public fascination.
With Eid drawing closer, both animals have transformed into local attractions. Curious onlookers continue visiting the farms for selfies and videos, while social media platforms buzz with debates over whether the resemblance to the two world leaders is uncanny or simply amusing coincidence.
