Actor Mukul Dev has passed away at the age of 54 following a short illness. The actor, who had reportedly been unwell for a few days, was moved to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) where he underwent treatment but could not recover. He is survived by his brother, actor Rahul Dev.

The news was confirmed by actor Vindu Dara Singh, who shared screen space with Mukul in the film Son of Sardaar. Mourning his colleague’s passing, Singh told India Today, “After losing his parents, Mukul became very reclusive. He stopped going out and kept to himself. His condition worsened recently and he was admitted to the hospital. I extend my heartfelt condolences to Rahul and everyone who cared for Mukul. He was a wonderful human being and will be missed deeply.”

Actor Deepshika Nagpal, a close friend of Mukul's, also expressed her grief. She posted a picture with him on Instagram and, in a conversation with India Today, shared that he hadn’t spoken about his health to anyone, not even close friends. “We have a WhatsApp group where we all stay in touch. This morning, I woke up to the shocking news and have been calling his phone non-stop, hoping it’s not true,” she said tearfully.

Mukul Dev enjoyed a diverse career in entertainment, appearing in Hindi and Punjabi cinema, television shows, and music videos. He also worked in several regional films, including Bengali, Malayalam, Kannada, and Telugu projects. His performance in Yamla Pagla Deewana earned him the prestigious 7th Amrish Puri Award for excellence in acting.

Hailing from Delhi, Mukul began his acting journey with the television series Mumkin in 1996, where he played Vijay Pandey. He was also seen in the popular Doordarshan show Ek Se Badh Kar Ek, a light-hearted countdown program focused on Bollywood music. Over the years, he featured in films such as Qila (1998), Wajood (1998), Kohram (1999), and Mujhe Meri Biwi Se Bachaao (2001), among others.

Mukul Dev’s contribution to the Indian entertainment industry spanned decades and genres, leaving a lasting legacy that fans and colleagues will remember fondly.
