17-05-2024An Air India flight bound for Delhi collided with a tug truck while taxiing towards the runway at Pune Airport on Thursday, May 16, as reported by news agency ANI. The aircraft was carrying 180 passengers at the time of the incident, but thankfully, no injuries were reported.
An airport official informed ANI that the collision resulted in damage to the aircraft's nose and a tyre near the landing gear. "Despite the collision, all passengers and crew on board are reported to be safe," the official confirmed.
In response to the incident, emergency protocols were promptly activated to ensure everyone's safety. Pune Airport officials stated that the passengers were "immediately deboarded, and arrangements were made for an alternative flight to Delhi."
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has initiated an investigation to uncover the cause of the collision. The DGCA's investigation will scrutinize operational protocols and identify any lapses that led to the incident.
Despite the collision, airport operations continued without significant disruption. The affected aircraft was temporarily taken out of service for a detailed inspection and repairs but has since been cleared for operations.
