Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced on Saturday that he and AAP leaders and workers will visit the BJP headquarters tomorrow, challenging the ruling party to arrest anyone they choose.
This statement followed the arrest of Kejriwal’s aide and former personal secretary, Bibhav Kumar, by Delhi Police in connection with the alleged assault on AAP MP Swati Maliwal.
Addressing PM Modi, Kejriwal said, “You're playing a game of imprisoning leaders like Manish Sisodia, Sanjay Singh, and now targeting Arvind Kejriwal. I will come to the BJP headquarters tomorrow at 12 pm with our MPs and MLAs. Arrest us all at once if you wish.”
Kejriwal accused the BJP of targeting AAP leaders. “They jailed Sanjay Singh and my aide Bibhav Kumar. They are threatening to jail Raghav Chadha, Saurabh Bharadwaj, and Atishi next,” he said in a video posted on his X account.
He questioned why the ruling party is intent on imprisoning AAP leaders. “Our fault is providing quality education to the poor and creating mohalla clinics with healthcare services. They want to shut down these initiatives because they can't replicate them,” Kejriwal asserted.
Kejriwal emphasized that the BJP’s attempts to crush AAP will not succeed, saying, “AAP is an idea rooted in people's hearts.”
In response, Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva criticized Kejriwal’s silence on the alleged assault on Swati Maliwal. “Stop this drama. Your woman MP was beaten at your residence six days ago, yet you remain silent. Who is responsible for this misbehavior? Why haven’t you addressed it?” Sachdeva questioned.
