Veteran actress Asha Parekh, renowned for her iconic roles in Hindi films such as Kati Patang, Teesri Manzil, and Caravan, will be honored with the prestigious 'Raj Kapoor Lifetime Achievement Award' by the Maharashtra government. In addition, actor Shivaji Satam, famous for his portrayal of ACP Pradyuman in the TV series CID, will receive the 'Chitrapati V Shantaram Lifetime Achievement Award.'
The awards ceremony is scheduled for the evening of August 21 at the NSCI Dome in Worli, Mumbai. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, along with Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar, will be present at the event.
Director N Chandra, celebrated for films such as Tezaab and Ankush, will be honored with the 'Raj Kapoor Special Contribution Award.' Writer-director Digpal Lanjekar, known for his films on Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, including Pawankhind and Fatteshikast, will receive the 'Chitrapati V Shantaram Special Contribution Award.'
Each Lifetime Achievement Award includes a cash prize of Rs 10 lakh, along with a citation and a memento. The Special Contribution Award winners will each receive Rs 6 lakh, a citation, and a memento.
State Cultural Affairs Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar expressed enthusiasm for the event, stating, "We are excited to honor these distinguished individuals for their exceptional contributions to the arts and culture of Maharashtra and the entire nation."
