US President Donald Trump on Thursday expressed optimism about the future of economic ties between India and the United States, indicating that both countries are moving toward a mutually beneficial trade agreement. Speaking on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Trump said he was confident negotiations would result in a strong outcome for both sides.

In brief remarks to Indian media, the US President suggested that bilateral trade discussions were on a positive track and said the two nations would reach an agreement that works well for India and the US alike. His comments reinforced expectations of deeper commercial engagement between Washington and New Delhi.

Trump also praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi, describing him as an outstanding leader and highlighting the respect he holds for him. Referring to their personal rapport, Trump said he values his relationship with the Indian Prime Minister, underscoring the warmth in ties at the leadership level.

The remarks come amid ongoing efforts by both governments to expand cooperation across trade, investment and strategic sectors, with leaders on both sides signalling confidence in the partnership’s long-term trajectory.
