Amidst an escalating water crisis in Delhi, Water Minister Atishi has issued an urgent appeal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, warning of an indefinite strike if immediate action is not taken.

At a press conference on Wednesday, Atishi announced, "I have written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi about the severe water shortage in Delhi and requested his intervention. If the crisis is not resolved within two days, I will go on an indefinite strike from June 21."

The Aam Aadmi Party leader attributed Delhi's water woes to Haryana's failure to release the city's allocated share of water. "Yesterday, Haryana released only 513 million gallons per day (MGD) of water to Delhi, instead of the agreed 613 MGD. One MGD serves 28,500 people, meaning that over 2.8 million residents were deprived of their rightful water supply," she explained.

Atishi highlighted that she has repeatedly reached out to the Haryana government to address the issue but to no avail.

In response, Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva accused Atishi of using theatrics to distract from the real issues of water theft and black marketing. "Atishi is resorting to drama to divert attention from the failures of her government. Official documents prove that Haryana provided surplus water to Delhi yesterday," Sachdeva stated.

Sachdeva criticized the AAP government for its inability to manage the city's water supply effectively. "This government has consistently failed to ensure adequate water for Delhi's residents. They should be held accountable and removed from power," he asserted.

The ongoing dispute between Delhi and Haryana over water allocation continues to affect millions, with no resolution in sight as political tensions rise.
