Bangladesh's army chief, General Waker-Uz-Zaman, announced today that the interim government led by Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus is set to take oath tomorrow. The ceremony is expected to occur at 8 pm, with the advisory council comprising 15 members.
President Mohammed Shahabuddin appointed Yunus, 84, as the head of the interim government following the violent removal of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who was known for her pro-India stance.
General Waker emphasized Yunus's commitment to steering the nation through a democratic process upon his arrival. In a televised address, he expressed confidence in Yunus's leadership, stating, "He is very eager to do this. I am certain that he will be able to take us through a beautiful democratic process and that we will benefit from this."
