Heavy rains early Monday morning led to significant waterlogging and traffic disruptions across Bengaluru, particularly in the northern and eastern parts of the city. Social media was flooded with complaints from commuters, including office-goers and parents whose children were stuck in school buses due to the gridlock.

The Bengaluru Traffic Police issued advisories about several major roads being heavily waterlogged. Areas such as the Outer Ring Road between Nagawara Junction and Hebbal, sections of Hosur and Bannerghatta Road, and Veerasandra on Electronics City Road were notably affected. Videos surfaced showing vehicles struggling to navigate through waterlogged streets, including Panathur Main Road. Residents in low-lying areas reported water entering their homes, exacerbating the situation.

The severe weather conditions prompted criticism from BJP leaders, who took the opportunity to attack the Congress-led Karnataka government. BJP leader PC Mohan posted a video on X, commenting, "Congress promised to make Bengaluru like London, but we almost ended up with Venice instead." Bengaluru South MP Tejaswi Surya also criticized the city’s municipal management, highlighting the need for more comprehensive urban planning rather than short-term fixes.

In response, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar acknowledged the issues caused by the rain, stating, "If water has entered apartments and houses, let's rectify it. We want the groundwater levels to increase." Shivakumar visited affected areas to assess the damage and emphasized the importance of improving long-term urban infrastructure to prevent such incidents in the future. He also noted that while other parts of the state had received sufficient rainfall, the Bengaluru region had not, highlighting the need for better water management strategies.
