The Met Gala has revealed its new lineup of co-chairs for next year’s fashion spectacle, bringing together a powerhouse group: Beyoncé, Venus Williams and Nicole Kidman will join Vogue chief Anna Wintour in leading the event in May.

This will be Williams’ first time in the role, arriving seven years after her sister Serena last served as co-chair. Beyoncé previously participated as an honorary chair in 2013, while Kidman has taken the position twice before, in 2003 and 2005. Wintour, who has long guided the gala, continues her tradition of overseeing the fundraiser, which hit a record-breaking $31 million last year to support the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute.

The museum also introduced its host committee, led by designer Anthony Vaccarello and actor-filmmaker Zoë Kravitz. The group features a long list of prominent performers and creators, including singers Sabrina Carpenter, Doja Cat, LISA, Sam Smith and Yseult; ballerina Misty Copeland; actors Teyana Taylor, Elizabeth Debicki, Gwendoline Christie and Lena Dunham; WNBA star A’ja Wilson; models Alex Consani, Paloma Elsesser and Lauren Wasser; Vogue editor Chloe Malle; and artist Anna Weyant.

The dress code for the May 4 gala will be disclosed later, but it will align with the exhibition theme unveiled last month: “Costume Art.”

The exhibition will explore how clothing and the human form have been portrayed throughout art history. It will showcase garments alongside paintings, sculptures, drawings and other museum objects to highlight fashion’s deep connection with artistic expression over centuries.

Max Hollein, the museum’s CEO and director, said the concept allows the show to draw from many corners of the institution’s vast collection, giving it a uniquely rich visual language.

Curated by Andrew Bolton, the Costume Institute’s head curator, the exhibition will be organized around representations of the body—from themes like “The Naked Body” and “The Classical Body” to more unconventional categories such as “The Pregnant Body” and “The Aging Body.”

“Costume Art” will debut inside a newly created 12,000-square-foot gallery space near the Great Hall, replacing the museum’s former retail store. Named the Conde M. Nast Galleries, the new area will serve as a permanent home for future spring Costume Institute shows and other exhibitions across departments, while helping ease crowding during popular displays.

Bolton has described the expansion as a milestone that emphasizes fashion’s vital role not just within art history, but within modern culture as well.

Meanwhile, Venus Williams made headlines earlier this year when she returned to the tennis court at age 45 after more than a year away, becoming the oldest singles competitor at the US Open since 1981. Her sister Serena recently dismissed rumors of her own comeback.

The exhibition opens to the public on May 10, 2026, and will remain on view until January 10, 2027.
