Following the BJP’s decisive win in the Delhi Assembly elections, speculation is mounting over the party’s choice for the next Chief Minister, with sources hinting at the possibility of a woman leader taking charge. With 48 out of 70 seats secured, bringing an end to AAP’s decade-long rule, discussions within the party are in full swing, though no official announcement has been made.

According to insiders, the new Chief Minister will be selected from among the newly elected BJP legislators. The party is also considering appointing a Deputy Chief Minister from an underrepresented community, with the new cabinet expected to reflect strong representation from women and Dalit leaders.

Among the victorious BJP candidates, four women MLAs won with significant margins. Rekha Gupta secured the Shalimar Bagh seat with 68,200 votes, defeating AAP’s Bandana Kumari by 29,595 votes. Shikha Roy clinched the Greater Kailash constituency, polling 49,594 votes and defeating AAP heavyweight Saurabh Bharadwaj by 3,188 votes. Poonam Sharma won in Wazirpur with 54,721 votes, securing a margin of 11,425 votes against AAP’s Rajesh Gupta, while Neelam Pehalwan triumphed in Najafgarh with 1,01,708 votes, defeating AAP’s Tarun Kumar by 29,009 votes.

Adding to BJP’s historic win, Parvesh Verma’s victory in the New Delhi constituency ended Arvind Kejriwal’s stronghold over the seat, which he had held since 2013. This symbolic defeat marked a turning point in Delhi’s political landscape.

With the BJP reclaiming power in the capital after 27 years, speculation over the leadership choice continues to grow, as the party gears up to finalize its government formation strategy.
