Union Minister Giriraj Singh launched a sharp rebuttal to Rahul Gandhi's remarks on the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), made during an event at the University of Texas. Rahul Gandhi had criticized the RSS, claiming that it promotes the idea of India as a singular entity, whereas his party believes in the country’s multiplicity of ideas. He also accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of attacking the Indian Constitution during the last general elections.
Responding to these comments, Giriraj Singh said, “A traitor cannot understand the RSS.” He further suggested that Rahul Gandhi should consult history or even ask his grandmother, former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, about the RSS. Singh emphasized that Rahul Gandhi would need "several lifetimes" to comprehend the true essence of the RSS, rooted in Indian culture and values. He also accused Gandhi of traveling abroad only to defame India.
Amit Malviya Takes a Jibe at Rahul Gandhi
In another pointed response, BJP leader Amit Malviya mocked Congress leader Sam Pitroda’s praise of Rahul Gandhi. Pitroda had lauded Gandhi's intellect and strategic thinking, which, he said, made him difficult to understand. In a sarcastic retort, Malviya remarked that Gandhi’s “bloopers are the stuff legends are made of.”
Rahul Gandhi’s visit to the US is part of a broader outreach effort, including interactions with Indian students and US lawmakers, as Congress seeks to strengthen its international connections ahead of key elections in India.
