Blinkit, the quick-commerce platform famous for delivering groceries and daily essentials within minutes, is now making a bold move into the electronics market. CEO Albinder Dhindsa announced on X that the platform will now offer a range of electronic products, including laptops, monitors, and printers, with deliveries promised in as little as 10 minutes.
Dhindsa shared the news with users, stating, “You can now get laptops, monitors, printers and more delivered in 10 minutes! We're expanding our electronics range to cover more use cases and have partnered up with leading brands in this category.” The electronics available include:
- Laptops from HP
- Monitors from Lenovo, Zebronics, and MSI
- Printers from Canon and HP
Additionally, Blinkit is offering printer cartridges from HP and Canon, with plans to include Epson cartridges in the near future.
Current Availability and Future Expansion
This new service is currently available in key cities such as Delhi NCR, Pune, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Kolkata, and Lucknow. To ensure fast deliveries, Blinkit is utilizing its large-order fleet, especially for bulkier items. Dhindsa hinted that the platform intends to further expand its product portfolio, adding more electronics and collaborating with additional brands in the future.
Impact on Small Stores and Authorized Dealers
Blinkit’s foray into electronics, providing items like laptops and monitors with delivery speeds of just 10 minutes, could shake up traditional retail businesses. By cutting out middlemen and eliminating the need for customers to visit physical stores, Blinkit is able to offer competitive prices. This model may pose a challenge to small retailers and authorized dealers, many of whom face high rent and staff costs, as they struggle to compete with the convenience and speed offered by Blinkit.
Blinkit’s Recent Moves
This expansion into electronics follows another major move by Blinkit: the launch of a 10-minute ambulance service in Gurugram. The service, still in its testing phase, promises quick response times, with ambulances reaching users within 10 minutes of booking via the Blinkit app. Dhindsa indicated that this emergency service will expand to more cities in the coming months, positioning Blinkit as a versatile platform addressing both everyday and urgent needs.
