Actor Boman Irani is stepping into the director's chair for the first time with his film The Mehta Boys. Co-starring Irani and Avinash Tiwary, the movie is set to make its world premiere as the opening film at the 15th Chicago South Asian Film Festival on September 20. On Monday, September 2, Boman Irani and Prime Video officially shared the exciting news about the film's premiere in Chicago. The announcement was accompanied by the caption, "Boys played well, indeed. The Mehta Boys premieres as the Opening Film of the Chicago South Asian Film Festival."
Following the announcement, many in the film industry took to social media to share their enthusiasm. Filmmaker Karan Johar reposted the news on his Instagram story, expressing eagerness to see the film, to which Boman Irani responded with gratitude.
Farah Khan also posted a congratulatory message along with the film’s poster, praising Irani’s directorial debut. "Congratulations Boman Irani. This is huge," she wrote.
Abhishek Bachchan, sharing his excitement, posted on his Instagram story, saying, "Yay Bomzi!!! Can't wait."
The Mehta Boys centers on the strained relationship between a father and son, who find themselves forced to spend 48 hours together under unexpected circumstances. The film, written by Boman Irani and Alex Dinelaris, also features Shreya Chaudhry and Puja Sarup in prominent roles.
