A total of 32 flights operated by Indian airlines were subjected to bomb threats on Saturday, leading to emergency checks at several airports. Officials confirmed that all but one flight landed at their destinations without issues, though they experienced delays due to the inspections.

One Vistara flight, UK 17, en route from Delhi to London, was forced to make an emergency landing in Frankfurt, Germany, where it underwent a security check. After a two-hour delay, the flight continued its journey to London. The other flights received threats after landing, with all checks confirming no explosives.

Indian carriers, including Air India, IndiGo, Akasa Air, Vistara, SpiceJet, Star Air, and Alliance Air, were among those affected. Bomb threats were delivered through messages left in aircraft lavatories, as well as via social media and email, but all turned out to be false alarms.

In response, the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) held an urgent meeting in New Delhi with airline executives. BCAS Director General Zulfiquar Hasan reassured the public that security protocols were being rigorously followed and that Indian skies remain safe. "There is no reason for concern. Indian skies are absolutely secure, and passengers should feel confident while flying," Hasan said.

The Civil Aviation Ministry is also considering stronger measures to combat hoax bomb threats, such as adding perpetrators to a no-fly list.

Authorities have already arrested a 17-year-old boy from Chhattisgarh, believed to be responsible for 19 of the threats. His motivation was reportedly to seek revenge on a 25-year-old business partner following a financial dispute. Investigations continue to trace the origins of the remaining threats, with police working alongside social media platforms and Virtual Private Network (VPN) providers.
