Bhavesh Bhinde, the owner of Ego Media Pvt Ltd, the advertising agency responsible for the collapsed hoarding in Mumbai's Ghatkopar area, was apprehended in Rajasthan on Thursday. Bhinde was discovered hiding in a hotel in Udaipur.

The massive hoarding collapsed amid heavy rain and a dust storm in Mumbai's Ghatkopar area on Monday, tragically claiming 16 lives and injuring several others. Following the incident, the Mumbai Police filed a culpable homicide case against Bhavesh Bhinde, whose company had installed the hoarding.

Bhinde, who has a history of 23 prior criminal cases, including a rape case registered against him in January this year at the Mulund Police Station, was taken into custody by the Mumbai Police on Thursday evening.

Experts attribute the collapse to the weak and inadequate foundation of the hoarding's pillar, raising serious safety concerns. The billboard, recognized in the Limca Book of Records as the largest hoarding, measured approximately 17,040 square feet.

In response, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) issued a statement, revealing that the collapsed billboard was erected without their authorization.
