Actor Celina Jaitly has moved the Andheri court in Mumbai seeking a divorce from her husband, businessman Peter Haag, accusing him of domestic abuse and cruelty. Shortly after reports surfaced, Celina posted a reflective and emotional note on Instagram, saying she has been “fighting her battles alone for years.” Her legal team, led by lawyer Niharika Karanjwala Misra, also confirmed that Haag had already begun divorce proceedings in Austria earlier this year.

Husband Filed for Divorce Abroad Earlier, Says Lawyer

According to Celina’s counsel, Haag initiated a divorce case in an Austrian court months ago after Celina reportedly confronted him over properties in Vienna being sold without her knowledge. In that proceeding, Haag is attempting to prove that Celina has no legal stake in the couple’s assets. The lawyer added that Haag has placed the responsibility for the collapsing marriage on Celina, even though she had urged him to opt for a mutual divorce for the sake of their children—something he allegedly declined.

Details of Celina’s Domestic Violence Petition

A case filed by Jaitly against her husband under the Domestic Violence Act, for domestic violence, cruelty and manipulation, came up today before the Court of Sh. SC Tadye, Ld. Judicial Magistrate First Class, Andheri, for verification and notice.

When the matter came up the case was verified and the Ld. Judge was pleased to issue notice to Peter Haag for December 12th, 2025.

Jaitly is represented by a team from law firm Karanjawala & Co., comprising Sandeep Kapur, Senior Partner, Niharika Karanjawala Misra, Principal Associate and Rytim Vohra Ahuja, Senior Associate, as well as local Mumbai lawyer Arpan Rajput. 

In her plea, the 47-year-old actor described Haag, 48, as “self-centered” and lacking empathy, alleging years of emotional, verbal, sexual, and physical abuse. She stated that the abuse became so severe that she had no option but to leave their home in Austria and return to India for her own safety.

Celina further alleged that after their children were born, Haag frequently blocked her from taking up film or professional work, which she says stripped her of financial independence. According to the petition, she was only allowed to accept limited assignments—and that too, only after seeking permission from Haag.Her petition also notes Haag’s previously filed divorce case in Austria.
 

What Celina Shared on Instagram

In a lengthy Instagram post, Celina wrote:
“Life took everything away. People I trusted disappeared. Promises dissolved in silence. Yet the storm didn’t sink me—it delivered me. It threw me out of violent waters and onto safer shores. It forced me to meet the woman inside me who refuses to break.”

She continued:
“As a soldier’s daughter, I was raised to fight with resilience, courage and conviction. I’ve learned to rise when the world expects me to fall. To battle even when my heart is in pieces. A DV complaint has now been filed for every act of abuse and abandonment I endured. My focus is on my children, my dignity, and my soldier brother.”

Celina and Haag tied the knot in 2010. The couple welcomed twin boys in 2012. In 2017, Celina gave birth to another set of twins, one of whom passed away due to a congenital heart condition.
