The Ministry of Home Affairs has set up a committee to investigate the deaths of three students in a flooded basement of a civil services coaching centre in Delhi. The committee is tasked with submitting its findings within 30 days.

The victims—Shreya Yadav (25) from Ghaziabad, Tanya Soni (25) from Telangana, and Nevin Delvin (24) from Ernakulam—died on Saturday night at Rau's IAS Study Circle in Old Rajinder Nagar. The basement, which had been converted into a library, was reportedly used in violation of municipal regulations that permitted it only for parking and storage.

The Delhi Police have arrested both the owner and the coordinator of the coaching institute, charging them with culpable homicide. Officials have highlighted the lack of a proper drainage system and safety measures as contributing factors to the tragedy.

Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan condemned the incident as a result of "negligence" but did not specify the responsible individuals or authorities. He emphasized the need for accountability to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
