Megastar Chiranjeevi was honored by Guinness World Records on September 22 for being the most prolific star in the Indian film industry in the actor/dancer category. The certificate, presented at an event in Hyderabad, recognizes his remarkable achievements over a career spanning 45 years.
“This moment is unforgettable. While I never sought recognition from Guinness World Records, it's incredible to be acknowledged for my dancing, which has been pivotal in my career,” Chiranjeevi expressed after receiving the accolade. He credited his success to the directors, producers, music directors, and choreographers who showcased his dance performances throughout his films.
According to sources, Chiranjeevi has performed an impressive 24,000 dance moves across 537 songs in 156 films. Coincidentally, September 22 also marks the anniversary of his film debut in 1978.
Guinness World Records adjudicator Richard Stenning praised Chiranjeevi’s contributions, stating, “After thoroughly reviewing all 156 films and his dance performances, we found this achievement to be officially amazing.” Superstar Aamir Khan, who attended the event, shared his admiration for Chiranjeevi, describing him as an elder brother and highlighting the passion he brings to his performances.
Among those congratulating Chiranjeevi were Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, Andhra Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, and Union Coal Minister G. Kishan Reddy. Reddy noted the pride this recognition brings to the Telugu community, while Naidu commended Chiranjeevi for his unparalleled contributions to Telugu cinema.
Chiranjeevi is renowned in South Indian cinema and has appeared in over 150 feature films in various languages, including Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, and Kannada. Some of his most popular films include "Rudra Veena," "Indra," "Tagore," "Swayam Krushi," "Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy," "Stalin," and "Gang Leader."
Earlier this year, he received the Padma Vibhushan, India's second-highest civilian award, alongside fellow cinema icon Vyjayanthimala. He was previously honored with the Padma Bhushan in 2006.
