Cognizant's subsidiary, TriZetto, has filed a lawsuit against Indian IT firm Infosys in a Texas federal court, alleging that Infosys misappropriated trade secrets related to its healthcare insurance software. The lawsuit accuses Infosys of unlawfully accessing TriZetto’s databases to develop a rival product.
Infosys has denied the allegations, with a spokesperson stating, "Infosys is aware of the lawsuit. We deny all allegations and will defend our position in court."
TriZetto's software, including the Facets and QNXT platforms, is widely used by healthcare insurers for administrative tasks. The lawsuit claims that Infosys misused TriZetto’s software to create a competing product named ‘Test Cases for Facets’ and also developed tools to extract confidential data from QNXT.
Cognizant is seeking unspecified monetary damages and an injunction to prevent Infosys from using its proprietary information further.
This legal dispute comes amid heightened tensions between the two companies. Recently, Cognizant appointed Rajesh Warrier, a former Infosys executive, as its new Chief Managing Director. Cognizant CEO Ravi Kumar also has connections to Infosys, intensifying the rivalry. Earlier, Infosys accused Cognizant of unfairly recruiting its employees, adding to the ongoing disputes. Additionally, Cognizant is involved in legal battles with Wipro over the hiring of Jatin Dalal.
