Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodriguez have reportedly tied the knot, ending years of speculation surrounding when the couple would officially marry.

The Portugal and Al Nassr football star, 41, and Rodriguez, 32, are said to have married in a private civil ceremony in Cascais, Portugal, on August 11, with their children present.

Rather than sharing details from the ceremony, the couple appeared to confirm the marriage by posting a photograph showing their hands adorned with wedding rings.

Wedding follows months of speculation

The marriage comes after considerable speculation about the couple's wedding plans.

Just days earlier, reports had claimed that Ronaldo and Rodriguez would marry at Funchal's Sé Cathedral in Madeira, Ronaldo's hometown. The reports drew a crowd outside the church, with fans hoping to see the footballer and his longtime partner.

But the gathering turned out to be based on a misunderstanding. The bride who arrived at the cathedral was another woman, Nicole, who was marrying her partner Fabio.

Ronaldo appeared to find the confusion amusing, responding to a social media post about the incident with laughing emojis.

His family had also dismissed reports suggesting that the couple were due to marry that particular weekend, while Ronaldo himself did not reveal any details about the actual ceremony.

How Ronaldo met Georgina

Ronaldo and Rodriguez's relationship began in 2016, when Rodriguez was working at a Gucci store.
