Deepika took to Instagram to share the news, explaining the significance of the name Dua, which means "prayer." She expressed, "Dua Padukone Singh | ‘Dua’: meaning a Prayer. Because She is the Answer to our Prayers. Our hearts are filled with Love and Gratitude. Deepika and Ranveer (sic)." In the photo, their little one is dressed in traditional red attire.

The couple welcomed their daughter on September 8, 2024, sharing their joy with fans in a joint post that read, "Welcome baby girl. 8-9-2024. Deepika & Ranveer." Ranveer had previously shared his desire to have a daughter resembling Deepika during an episode of his quiz show, The Big Picture, stating, "As you know I am married and may have kids in the next 2-3 years. Your sister-in-law was such a cute baby. I see her baby photos every day and tell her, 'Give me a baby like this and my life would be set.' I am already shortlisting names."

While pregnant, Deepika promoted the film Kalki 2898 AD, but since becoming a mother, she has stepped back from the public eye. Ranveer has been attending events, including the trailer launch of Singham Again, where Deepika also stars. He mentioned, "Deepika was busy with the baby, so she wasn't present at the event. My duty to take care of the baby is in the night, hence I am here." He humorously added, "Let me tell you this — my baby had a debut as Baby Simmba," and noted that Deepika was pregnant while filming.
