Bollywood stars Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh have welcomed their first child, a baby girl, on Sunday, September 8. The couple shared the joyful news on social media with a joint post that read, "Welcome baby girl. 8-9-2024. Deepika & Ranveer."

The announcement quickly received a flood of congratulatory messages from celebrities including Alia Bhatt, Shaheen Bhatt, Rubina Dilaik, Amruta Khanvilkar, Athiya Shetty, and Malaika Arora.

Deepika and Ranveer first revealed their pregnancy in February of this year with an Instagram post featuring motifs of baby clothes, shoes, and balloons, marking their expected due date in September 2024. Throughout her pregnancy, Deepika continued to be active professionally and made public appearances, including a visit to the Siddhivinayak Temple in Mumbai the day before she was admitted to the hospital.

Before the pregnancy, Ranveer had expressed his desire to have a daughter. On his TV show The Big Picture, he mentioned his wish for a baby girl, reminiscing about how he admired his wife Deepika's baby photos and wished for a similar experience.

Deepika and Ranveer’s romance began in 2012, and they married on November 14 and 15, 2018, in a picturesque ceremony in Lake Como, Italy. Their wedding video was shared for the first time on the eighth season of Koffee With Karan, where Ranveer also disclosed that he proposed to Deepika in the Maldives in 2015.
