Delhi is gearing up to launch its first-ever hot air balloon rides from November 29, following successful test flights at the Delhi Development Authority’s (DDA) Baansera Park along the Yamuna riverfront. Announcing the new attraction on X, Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena said the activity is being run by an experienced professional team and complies with “the highest safety standards.” He added that the initiative aligns with the vision of transforming Delhi into a livelier city with improved recreational facilities and modern public infrastructure.
Beginning Saturday, visitors can enjoy tethered hot air balloon experiences at Baansera Park. In the coming days, the service will expand to three more DDA sites — Asita riverfront, Yamuna Sports Complex, and the Commonwealth Games Village Sports Complex — as part of a broader effort to activate the Yamuna riverbank with fresh leisure and adventure offerings.
Each flight will cost ₹3,000 per person for a 15–20-minute aerial experience. Rides will be conducted twice daily, one in the morning and another in the evening, subject to weather conditions. Since each balloon can accommodate only around four passengers per trip, officials expect slots to fill quickly.
The balloons will operate as tethered units — securely anchored to the ground while ascending — ensuring stable, controlled, and safe views of the Yamuna and its surrounding landscape.
PROFESSIONAL TEAM, STRICT SAFETY MEASURES
The DDA has contracted a certified operator with extensive experience in ballooning and other aviation-related entertainment services. The crew will oversee launches, pilot the balloons, and conduct detailed safety inspections before every ride. Authorities emphasised that the operation adheres to all required aviation and safety protocols.
Lt Governor Saxena said he hopes the project will add a fresh dimension to Delhi’s recreational options and offer residents a unique way to witness the evolving riverfront.
