22-05-2024The Delhi Police has made progress in the investigation of the bomb threat emails sent to approximately 150 schools in the capital city on May 1. Sources revealed to India Today TV that the hoax emails, triggering extensive evacuation measures, have been tracked to Budapest, Hungary.
The IP address associated with these emails has been traced to Budapest, prompting Delhi Police to initiate communication with authorities in Hungary for further inquiry. An IP address serves as a unique identifier for devices connected to the internet.
Sources also disclosed that the hoax threat emails were routed through the mail server mail.ru, headquartered in Russia. In collaboration with Interpol, Delhi Police has acquired pertinent information from Russian authorities.
The emails, originating from the Russian server, asserted the presence of explosives on various school premises in the capital city.
Following the registration of an FIR, the police engaged with the Russian-based mailing service company 'mail.ru' through Interpol. Investigations are underway to ascertain the IP address used for sending the emails, identify the sender, and discern the motive behind the bomb hoax.
