Singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh has finally spoken about the controversy surrounding his film Sardaarji 3 and his association with Pakistani actor Hania Aamir, a collaboration that drew criticism after the Pahalgam terror attack in April 2025. The remarks came during his live concert in Kuala Lumpur, where he also touched upon the India–Pakistan cricket clashes in the Asia Cup, currently underway in the UAE.

Dosanjh, who has been facing online backlash, reminded his audience of the timeline. He clarified that the film was shot months earlier in February, when the cricket matches were ongoing, and long before the April terror attack. “When we filmed Sardaarji 3, the matches were being played. Later, the tragic Pahalgam incident happened. From that time till now, we have only prayed that the terrorists are punished severely,” he said, speaking in Punjabi.

The singer explained that he chose silence in the face of accusations. “I had many answers but decided to remain quiet. Life has taught me not to take negativity inside. People may say a lot, but I won’t allow that poison into me,” Dosanjh told the crowd.

Addressing media criticism, Dosanjh also rejected allegations that he was ‘anti-national’. “Some sections of the national media tried hard to paint me in that light. But Punjabis, and the Sikh community, can never go against India,” he stated, receiving loud applause from fans.

The controversy around Dosanjh comes against the backdrop of calls to boycott the Asia Cup matches between India and Pakistan. Families of the Pahalgam attack victims and several public figures questioned why sporting ties were allowed despite Pakistan’s role in cross-border terrorism. The attack in April had claimed 26 lives, reigniting debates over cricket diplomacy.
