Diljit Dosanjh is set to perform at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi on Friday, October 30, with nearly 2,000 private security personnel expected to be deployed and traffic restrictions likely around the venue until midnight.
The concert, part of the singer’s Aura India Tour, will take place amid heavy rain and heightened security arrangements following concerns raised by the Delhi Police over specific threat inputs and the demands of festive-season policing.
The event had faced uncertainty after the South District Police informed ticketing partner BookMyShow that the necessary clearance could not be granted at that stage. The concerns prompted questions about whether the performance would proceed as planned.
Organisers subsequently clarified that the show had not been cancelled and submitted a revised security plan addressing the police’s operational concerns. The revised dossier was approved, allowing the concert to go ahead on schedule.
Security stepped up ahead of the show
The deployment of private security personnel is part of preparations to manage the large audience expected at the stadium. Authorities are also anticipating traffic congestion in the surrounding areas, with restrictions likely to remain in place until midnight.
The arrangements come after police initially withheld clearance because of security inputs and the additional responsibilities associated with managing public order during the festive period.
The organisers’ revised plan addressed the issues flagged by the authorities, paving the way for the concert after a brief period of uncertainty.
Delhi marks the opening leg of Aura India Tour
The Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium show marks the opening leg of Dosanjh’s Aura India Tour, which is expected to take the singer to multiple cities across the country.
The performance is among the major live music events scheduled in the capital, with security and crowd management forming key parts of the preparations.
Despite the earlier clearance concerns and the prospect of heavy rain, the concert is set to proceed as scheduled, with security personnel and traffic management measures in place around the venue.
