Actor Hrithik Roshan has broken his silence on the viral "Sorry Hrithik" trend that has resurfaced amid the ongoing backlash against actor-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut over her remarks on student protests. The actor urged people not to form opinions based solely on social media sentiment and stressed the importance of facts.

The trend began gaining traction online after a fresh political controversy involving Kangana sparked renewed discussions about her long-running dispute with Hrithik. As memes and old clips flooded social media platforms, many users started expressing support for Hrithik, with some claiming that the actor deserved an apology.

The online conversation intensified after Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) spokesperson Saurav Das responded to Kangana's criticism of him. Das said some of his friends had jokingly compared his appearance to that of a young Hrithik Roshan and questioned why Kangana was targeting him personally.

His remarks quickly triggered the "#SorryHrithik" trend, with several social media users drawing comparisons to the highly publicised legal battle between Hrithik and Kangana that dominated headlines in 2016.

Influencer Freddy Birdy also joined the discussion by sharing a post on Instagram that suggested the world owed Hrithik an apology. Reacting to the post, the actor cautioned against supporting one person simply because public opinion had turned against another.

Hrithik wrote that siding with one individual merely because someone else has fallen out of favour reflects a deeper problem in society. He added that he would rather wait until opinions are driven by evidence and proper context, instead of emotional reactions on social media.

The actor further indicated that any judgment should be based on facts and fairness rather than internet trends.

Hrithik and Kangana's dispute dates back nearly a decade, when Kangana publicly claimed that the two had been in a relationship—an allegation Hrithik consistently denied. The disagreement later escalated into a legal battle involving allegations of harassment, stalking and defamation.

During the investigation, Hrithik reportedly submitted several electronic devices and documents as evidence, while investigators eventually closed the case in 2021 after filing a closure report due to insufficient evidence.

With his latest remarks, Hrithik has once again emphasised that complex personal disputes should not be reduced to viral hashtags and social media campaigns.
