The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has launched an extensive search operation in five cities—Delhi, Mumbai, Jaipur, Chandigarh, and Bangalore—targeting individuals involved in unauthorized ticket sales for the upcoming Coldplay and Diljit Dosanjh concerts. The ED’s action follows multiple FIRs filed across states regarding fraudulent sales of concert tickets.
The investigation is focused on counterfeit ticket sales for Dosanjh’s "Dilluminati" tour, beginning on October 26 in Delhi NCR, and Coldplay’s "Music of the Spheres World Tour," scheduled for January 18-19, 2025, at Mumbai's DY Patil Stadium.
As ticket sales on platforms like Bookmyshow and Zomato Live sold out swiftly, unauthorized sellers saw an opportunity, using platforms like Instagram, WhatsApp, and Telegram to sell fake or overpriced tickets.
Following a complaint from Bookmyshow, several FIRs have been lodged against sellers exploiting fans by distributing counterfeit tickets at inflated rates.
An ED spokesperson shared that searches across 13 locations have uncovered individuals using social media channels to distribute unauthorized tickets. Under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002, the ED has seized several items used in the operations, including mobile phones, laptops, and SIM cards.
