Film and television producer Ektaa Kapoor has offered a reality check on the popular belief that Bollywood birthday celebrations are filled with luxury presents and over-the-top partying.

In a recent chat with MK Talks, Kapoor shared that guests usually do not bring expensive gifts to the birthday parties of major stars like Salman Khan or Shah Rukh Khan. According to her, it is uncommon for attendees to arrive with elaborate presents, as most feel there is little they could meaningfully gift such established personalities.

Kapoor also spoke about her own approach to birthdays, saying she prefers to keep the day private. Instead of hosting lavish gatherings, she visits Tirupati and avoids organising celebrations altogether. When it comes to big industry names, she noted that well-wishers often offer greetings and blessings rather than material gifts.

“The Industry Is Actually Quite Boring”

Challenging the stereotype of Bollywood as a constant party circuit, Kapoor dismissed the perception that celebrities regularly exchange costly presents or indulge in excessive celebrations. She described the entertainment world as surprisingly disciplined, saying many actors maintain strict routines due to demanding schedules.

According to her, early bedtimes, fitness-focused lifestyles, and controlled social habits are more common than late-night revelry. She added that the glamorous image associated with the film fraternity does not always reflect reality.

Current and Upcoming Projects

On the professional front, Kapoor continues to oversee popular television dramas such as Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2 and Naagin 7 under her banner, Balaji Telefilms Limited.

In cinema, she is backing the horror-comedy Bhooth Bangla, starring Akshay Kumar alongside Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, Tabu and Wamiqa Gabbi.

She is also associated with Vvan: Force of the Forest, directed by Deepak Kumar Mishra and Arunabh Kumar. The film features Sidharth Malhotra in the lead, with Tamannaah Bhatia, Sunil Grover, Maniesh Paul, Shweta Tiwari and Anup Soni in key roles.
