Delhi Police have registered an FIR in connection with the bursting of firecrackers outside Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's residence in Civil Lines, North Delhi, following his release from jail, officials said on Saturday.
This comes just days after the Delhi government announced a ban on the production, sale, and use of firecrackers across the capital to control air pollution during the winter season.
The FIR, registered under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for disobedience of orders by a public servant, was filed at the Civil Lines Police Station against unknown individuals. The firecrackers were reportedly set off outside Kejriwal's official residence on Friday evening after his release from Tihar Jail.
The Supreme Court granted bail to Kejriwal in a corruption case filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) related to the Delhi excise policy. Kejriwal had been held in Tihar Jail for over five months.
