The personal life of Bollywood veteran Govinda has once again come under the spotlight, with reports suggesting that his wife, Sunita Ahuja, has moved the Bandra Family Court seeking divorce after nearly four decades of marriage. The development follows her recent emotional appearance in a vlog, where she addressed longstanding rumours about their relationship.

As per a report by Hauterrfly, Sunita filed the petition under Section 13 (1) (i), (ia), and (ib) of the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955, citing adultery, cruelty, and desertion as grounds. Court records indicate that Govinda was summoned on May 25 but has not attended any hearings so far, leading to the issuance of a show cause notice. In contrast, Sunita has been present at all counselling sessions and proceedings since June 2025.

Sunita’s Emotional Vlog

In her recent vlog, Sunita was seen at Mumbai’s Mahalaxmi Temple, where she grew emotional while recalling her journey with Govinda. She revealed that she had prayed at the temple before her marriage, asking for a happy life with him, and credited the Goddess for blessing her with two children. Breaking down, she added:

“Life brings both good and bad times. But I have full faith in Maa Kaali—that anyone trying to break my home will face consequences. It is not right to cause pain to a good man and a good woman.”

Her remarks have been widely interpreted as a veiled reference to the turbulence in their marriage.

Past Strains in the Relationship

Sunita has earlier spoken about celebrating birthdays alone for over a decade and confirmed that she and Govinda have been living separately, attributing it partly to his work commitments and what she called his “talkative nature.”

In February 2025, Govinda’s team admitted that Sunita had filed for divorce six months earlier but claimed the couple had reconciled. Sunita’s camp, however, denied any such reconciliation, urging the media to verify details with her directly.

Speculation over Govinda’s closeness to a young Marathi actress has also made headlines, though family friend Lalit Bindal dismissed the rumours, saying the two remain committed to each other.

For now, the matter lies with the court, while fans and the film industry wait to see how one of Bollywood’s most talked-about marriages unfolds.
