Gunfire Outside Kapil Sharma’s Canada Cafe, Khalistani Terrorist Claims Involvement
A shooting incident outside Kapil Sharma’s café in Surrey, Canada has sparked security concerns after a Khalistani extremist claimed responsibility
10-07-2025An unsettling incident unfolded late Wednesday night outside Kap’s Cafe, a newly launched eatery in Surrey, British Columbia, owned by Indian comedian Kapil Sharma. Unknown gunmen opened fire at the premises before fleeing the scene. No injuries were reported.
Harjeet Singh Laddi, a wanted Khalistani extremist affiliated with the banned outfit Babbar Khalsa International (BKI), has taken responsibility for the shooting. Laddi, who is on the National Investigation Agency’s most-wanted list in India, is said to have cited a past comment made by Sharma as the motive behind the attack, according to intelligence sources.
While it remains uncertain whether the café itself was the primary target or if the firing served as a message to Sharma, the incident has triggered concern about the security of Indian personalities abroad.
Kapil Sharma, a popular figure in Indian entertainment, has not issued a public statement about the shooting so far. His latest season of The Kapil Sharma Show began streaming on Netflix on June 21. The season has featured high-profile guests including Salman Khan, the cast of Metro In Dino, and Indian cricket players. The upcoming episode will include well-known OTT actors like Jaideep Ahlawat, Vijay Varma, Pratik Gandhi, and Jeetendra Kumar.
Authorities in Canada are currently investigating the shooting, and further updates are expected in the coming days.
