02-09-2024An Indian Air Force (IAF) MiG-29 fighter jet crashed in Rajasthan’s Barmer district on Monday due to a technical malfunction. Fortunately, the pilot managed to eject safely before the aircraft went down.
The fighter jet, which was on a routine training mission from an Air Force base in the Barmer sector, encountered a serious technical issue, leading to the crash in a field near Uttarlai, an uninhabited area. The plane burst into flames upon impact, but no casualties or property damage were reported.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the Indian Air Force confirmed, "During a routine night training mission in the Barmer sector, an IAF MiG-29 experienced a critical technical snag, forcing the pilot to eject. The pilot is safe, and no loss of life or property was reported."
A Court of Inquiry has been set up to investigate the cause of the crash. Barmer District Collector Nishant Jain, Superintendent of Police Narendra Singh Meena, and other district officials have arrived at the crash site to assess the situation.
