Atul Wassan’s words rang true! The much-anticipated India vs Pakistan encounter in the Champions Trophy unfolded with the predictability of a classic Bollywood action scene—India dominating while Pakistan struggled to keep up. Entering the contest as clear favorites, India justified the hype, cruising to a six-wicket victory over a lackluster Pakistan side in Dubai on Sunday, February 23.

Pakistan’s performance was akin to searching for solutions on an outdated browser, while India seemed to operate with cutting-edge technology. The stark difference in skill levels turned what was expected to be a thrilling showdown into a one-sided affair.

The match followed a familiar script. Virat Kohli, a known tormentor of Pakistan, was once again at the heart of India's chase, making batting look effortless despite his recent struggles. India restricted Pakistan to a modest 241, as the latter failed to utilize their full 50 overs, and then comfortably chased the target with 45 balls to spare.

With back-to-back losses, Pakistan now faces the threat of an early exit from the tournament, sitting at the bottom of Group A in the points table.

The contrast between the two innings was striking. Pakistan’s batting approach felt outdated, with a staggering 152 dot balls in their innings. A frustrated Pakistani fan summed it up aptly on social media, lamenting that their cricketing style seemed stuck in a bygone era. Meanwhile, India, spearheaded by Rohit Sharma’s aggressive intent, effortlessly dismantled the opposition’s bowling attack, even as the pitch slowed down in the absence of evening dew.

Captain Mohammad Rizwan’s innings was reminiscent of a past era in ODI cricket. After Babar Azam’s cautious 90-ball 64 against New Zealand, Rizwan followed suit with another sluggish knock, slowing the momentum just when Pakistan needed to press on. While Babar briefly injected some attacking intent, Rizwan’s overly cautious approach proved costly on the big stage.
