India has firmly dismissed China's recent effort to rename several locations in Arunachal Pradesh, reaffirming that the state is an inseparable part of India.

In a stern response on Tuesday, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) stated, "We have noted China's continued attempts to assign names to places in Arunachal Pradesh, which are baseless and unjustifiable."

The MEA further emphasized, "In line with our consistent stance, we categorically reject such actions. No amount of arbitrary renaming will change the fact that Arunachal Pradesh has been, is, and will always remain an integral part of India."

This statement follows China’s repeated attempts to assert its claim over Arunachal Pradesh. Earlier in April 2024, China released its fourth list of 30 renamed locations along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Arunachal Pradesh, a region India considers its own. The Chinese government had referred to these places by new names, claiming the area as part of Zangnan, which it recognizes as part of its territory.

The newly renamed locations include 12 mountains, four rivers, one lake, one mountain pass, 11 residential areas, and a tract of land. Along with the list, China provided precise geographic coordinates and a high-resolution map of the area.

This is not the first time China has attempted to rename places in Arunachal Pradesh. In 2017, China introduced a list of six "standardized" names for the region, which was followed by subsequent lists in 2021 and 2023 featuring additional places.

Despite these actions, India remains resolute in its position, asserting that China's attempts to alter geographical names will not affect the reality that Arunachal Pradesh is a vital part of India.
