In a daring sea rescue, the Indian Coast Guard saved a critically ill fisherman from the Indian Fishing Boat Jazeera off the coast of Kerala on May 7, 2024
08-05-2024The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) conducted a successful rescue operation on May 7, 2024, saving the life of a critically ill fisherman aboard the Indian Fishing Boat (IFB) Jazeera. The incident occurred approximately 40 nautical miles off the coast of Beypore, Kerala, when the fisherman fell overboard and experienced a near-drowning episode.
Following the distress call from the IFB, the ICG promptly responded by deploying its Advanced Light Helicopter along with medical personnel from Kochi, as well as Aryaman & C-404 ships. Upon locating the IFB, the ICG assets airlifted the patient to Kochi, where he was transferred to a nearby hospital for further medical treatment.
This successful rescue operation highlights the swift and coordinated efforts of the Indian Coast Guard in saving lives at sea, aligning with its motto 'Vayam Rakshama'.
