The Consulate General of India in Toronto hosted a special community reception to commemorate India's 80th Independence Day, bringing together political representatives, diplomats, community leaders and members of the Indian diaspora.
The event was attended by ministers, Members of Parliament and Members of Provincial Parliament from Ontario, along with members of the diplomatic corps, community representatives and friends of India from the business and cultural sectors.
Addressing the gathering, Consul General Mahaveer Singhvi highlighted India's journey over the past eight decades and its expanding presence and influence on the global stage. He also spoke about the strong and enduring connections between India and Canada.
High Commissioner of India to Canada Dinesh K. Patnaik was also present at the reception.
The evening featured cultural performances showcasing India's diverse heritage and traditions, adding to the celebratory atmosphere.
The Consulate thanked members of the Indian community, partners and friends across Canada for joining the celebrations and marking the milestone of India's 80 years of Independence.
