Iran’s powerful military force, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), announced on Monday that it had carried out missile and drone strikes on key Israeli government and military facilities. According to Iran’s state-run Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), the attacks allegedly included the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Tel Aviv as well as security installations in Haifa and Jerusalem.
In a statement, the IRGC claimed that its forces had struck what it described as the “office of the Zionist regime’s prime minister” along with the headquarters linked to Israel’s air force leadership. Iranian officials said the operation was part of a broader retaliatory campaign launched after the death of Iran’s long-time Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei in joint strikes by the United States and Israel.
Iranian state media reported that several of the targeted locations had been “severely damaged.” It also suggested uncertainty surrounding Netanyahu’s status following the strikes. Israeli authorities, however, have not confirmed any attack on the prime minister’s office.
Tehran says it has already launched multiple waves of missiles and drones since Saturday in response to the coordinated US–Israeli operation that killed Khamenei. Iranian officials have described the strikes as an act of self-defence, warning that Israeli territory and American military facilities across the region could remain targets.
Meanwhile, residents in Jerusalem reported hearing fresh explosions after the Israeli military said additional missiles had been launched from Iran. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said its air defence systems were actively working to intercept incoming threats.
The conflict has also spread beyond Israel and Iran. Fighting intensified in Lebanon after the Iran-backed militant group Hezbollah launched missiles and drones toward Israeli territory following Khamenei’s death. Israel responded with airstrikes on Hezbollah positions, including areas in the southern suburbs of Beirut.
Lebanon’s official news agency reported that dozens of people were killed and many more injured in the initial Israeli strikes, highlighting the rapidly widening scope of the conflict across the Middle East.
