Janhvi Kapoor delighted fans on Monday by appearing at the special screening of her upcoming film Homebound in a navy blue saree once worn by her late mother, iconic actress Sridevi. The saree, previously showcased at Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli’s wedding reception, featured intricate gold embroidery, which Janhvi paired with a black velvet blouse, statement earrings, a choker necklace, and a sleek bun, radiating timeless elegance.
Homebound, directed by Neeraj Ghaywan, follows the journey of two childhood friends from a small North Indian town aspiring to secure police jobs that bring them dignity and purpose. As they edge closer to their dreams, their bond is tested by increasing challenges and desperation.
The film has been selected as India’s official entry for the 2026 Oscars in the Best International Feature Film category. Earlier on Monday, the cast, including Ishaan and Vishal, and Ghaywan spoke at a press conference in Mumbai, sharing their excitement about the Oscar selection and reflecting on the filmmaking process. Ishaan remarked, “This is a film I am truly proud of… it’s been crafted with care to resonate with a wide audience.”
Homebound has already been screened at major international festivals, including Cannes 2025, TIFF, and the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne, before its scheduled theatrical release in India on September 26.
