When Jennifer Lopez touched down in Udaipur this week wearing a shimmering rose-gold couture sari, even the most seasoned attendees of India’s luxury weddings took a moment to stare.
The global pop icon was the showstopper at the wedding of Netra Mantena and Vamsi Gadiraju, wrapping up four days of opulent celebrations that blended royalty, celebrity glamour and extraordinary spending.
A Big-Fat Udaipur Wedding That Had Everyone Talking
Netra — daughter of US-based pharmaceutical magnate Rama Raju Mantena — and tech entrepreneur Vamsi transformed Udaipur into a multi-venue wedding paradise from November 21 to 24.
The festivities sprawled across some of the city’s most iconic locations: The Leela Palace, Taj Lake Palace, City Palace, Jagmandir Island Palace and Zenana Mahal.
The main ceremony at Jagmandir became a breathtaking sight, with 17th-century marble architecture reimagined with towering floral installations. The bride chose a rich maroon Sabyasachi ensemble; the groom matched the grandeur in ivory.
The guest list read like a mix of global high society and entertainment who’s-who. Donald Trump Jr made an appearance, along with prominent industrialists, Hollywood names and a procession of Bollywood personalities.
Dia Mirza, Amyra Dastur, Sophie Choudry and Karan Johar hosted several of the functions.
The sangeet was a starburst of performances: Ranveer Singh, Shahid Kapoor, Janhvi Kapoor, Nora Fatehi, Jacqueline Fernandez, Kriti Sanon, Madhuri Dixit and Varun Dhawan all took the stage.
Varun and Punjabi pop star Sukhbir reportedly earned ₹3–4 crore each for their sets.
One of the most replayed online moments is Ranveer Singh pulling Trump Jr’s partner, Bettina Anderson, and the bride Netra into his high-energy dance routine.
Jennifer Lopez’s Headline Appearance — And the Price Everyone Is Discussing
But the most talked-about moment came at the finale: Jennifer Lopez’s performance after the wedding.
Multiple reports suggest her appearance fee was a colossal ₹17 crore, instantly making it one of the highest-paid wedding performances in India.
Lopez chose a rose-gold, sculptural sari-gown hybrid with a structured bodice, shimmering embroidery and a dramatic pallu-drape.
Her jewellery — icy green gems in a statement choker and cascading earrings — contrasted elegantly with the metallic fabric, creating a look that has since gone viral across fashion accounts.
Not JLo’s First Udaipur Wedding Performance
This wasn’t Lopez’s debut at a Rajasthan mega-wedding.
She previously headlined the 2015 wedding of Sanjay Hinduja and Anusuya Mahtani, another lavish three-day celebration split between Mumbai and Udaipur.
That wedding, estimated at ₹150 crore and hosting roughly 16,000 guests across multiple events, was one of the earliest examples of international A-listers performing at private Indian functions.
Before the main Udaipur ceremonies, the Hindujas threw extravagant pre-wedding parties in Mumbai — including one at their Juhu residence featuring cuisine from nearly 18 countries, and another at the Taj Mahal Palace with around 3,000 attendees.
A Look Back: What JLo Charged Then
At the Udaipur sangeet in 2015, Nicole Scherzinger performed to Tune Maari Entriyaan with Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor, reportedly earning ₹40 lakh.
Jennifer Lopez was the headline act, taking home an estimated ₹6.5 crore.
She arrived with then-partner Casper Smart and checked into the Kohinoor Suite at The Oberoi Udaivilas — priced around ₹3 lakh per night.
The logistics of the Hinduja celebrations matched the scale:
-
208 chartered flights worth ₹20 crore brought guests to Rajasthan
-
Hundreds of BMWs with drivers ferried VIPs
-
Bollywood regulars — Shilpa Shetty, Raveena Tandon, Preity Zinta, Malaika Arora and Dino Morea — were among those in attendance.
A decade later, Lopez’s return to Udaipur has once again lit up social media, reaffirming why Indian weddings remain irresistible to global superstars.
