Kangana Ranaut's 'Emergency' Receives UA Certification with Required Edits
Kangana Ranaut's film 'Emergency' has been granted a UA certificate by the CBFC, with mandatory cuts and disclaimers, leading to a postponed release date
08-09-2024Actor-politician Kangana Ranaut's film Emergency has received a UA certification from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), with certain modifications required. The CBFC has mandated that the filmmakers make cuts to specific scenes and include disclaimers regarding the historical events portrayed in the film.
The release date for Emergency has yet to be finalized. A UA certificate allows the film to be viewed by a broad age range, though it requires parental guidance. The film was submitted for review on July 8, but faced delays after several Sikh organizations, including the Akal Takht and the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, raised concerns about its depiction of the Sikh community and sought a ban.
In response to these issues, Kangana Ranaut, who directs and stars in the film, announced on social media that the film's release would be postponed until certification issues are resolved. She expressed gratitude for the patience and understanding of the film's audience.
Originally scheduled for a September 6 release, Emergency also features Anupam Kher and Shreyas Talpade in prominent roles.
