Karan Johar recently attracted attention in the film industry by selling a 50% stake in Dharma Productions to Adar Poonawalla, the CEO of the Serum Institute. While the exact motivations for Johar seeking an investor remain ambiguous, the acquisition has generated significant buzz. Following Jaaved Jaaferi's humorous reaction to the deal, Karan posted a cryptic message on Instagram stating, “Competition happens at the bottom. The people at the top are collaborating,” which fans interpreted as a nod to his partnership with Poonawalla.

Poonawalla’s investment in Dharma Productions will allow him to assist Johar in advancing the company. Reflecting on their collaboration, Karan noted, “Since its founding, Dharma Productions has been synonymous with emotional storytelling that embodies Indian culture. My father envisioned creating films that would have a lasting impact, and I have devoted my career to realizing that dream. With Adar, a close friend and an exceptional visionary, we are set to elevate Dharma’s legacy. This partnership perfectly merges our emotional storytelling capabilities with innovative business strategies.”

Jaaved added a light-hearted touch by reposting the news with a tongue-in-cheek announcement for Karan's “next film,” quipping, “Next film: Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Serum,” which brought laughter to many fans. Others joined the playful banter, suggesting titles like “Vaccine ke baad se Kuch Kuch Hota Hai” and “Covi Khushi, Covi Gham.”

Karan will remain at the helm of Dharma Productions as Executive Chairman, focusing on the creative direction of the company. He emphasized that the aim is to honor their roots while also embracing the future of global entertainment. He views this collaboration as a chance to create content that resonates with audiences around the world.

Previously, Karan made headlines when Divya Khosla Kumar accused him of manipulating box office figures for Alia Bhatt's film Jigra, directed by Vasan Bala. His most recent directorial effort was Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, and he has yet to reveal his next project.
