Actor Katrina Kaif has spoken about how motherhood has changed the way she views beauty, skincare and self-care, amid social media scrutiny over her appearance following the birth of her son, Vihaan, with husband Vicky Kaushal.
In a recent conversation with The Hollywood Reporter India, Kaif reflected on how her understanding of beauty has evolved since the beginning of her modelling and acting career. She said that looking good for her is no longer about conforming to conventional standards, but about feeling healthy and comfortable in her own skin.
Katrina on changing beauty standards
Kaif recalled entering an industry where appearance was often measured against established ideas of beauty. Over the years, however, she said her priorities have shifted towards overall well-being.
For the actor, feeling her best now comes from taking care of her health rather than trying to meet a particular physical ideal.
How pregnancy changed her skincare routine
Kaif also opened up about changes in her skin after pregnancy. She said her skin became more sensitive after childbirth, prompting her to reassess the products and routines she used.
She said she now focuses more on calming and restoring her skin, paying attention to what it needs at a particular time instead of following a rigid routine.
Her approach also reflects the skincare philosophy behind her beauty brand, Kay Beauty, which recently expanded into skincare with products focused on hydration and skin-barrier support.
Katrina's approach to health and confidence
Beyond skincare, Kaif spoke about maintaining a balanced lifestyle. She mentioned eating well, staying physically active, managing inflammation and practising meditation as part of her approach to wellness.
She also highlighted simple habits such as getting natural light in the morning and keeping the first hour of her day free from screens.
According to Kaif, these practices affect not only how she feels but also how her skin responds. She linked feeling healthy with a greater sense of confidence.
Actor faces scrutiny after becoming a mother
Kaif's comments come at a time when her appearance after pregnancy has attracted considerable attention online. She has not directly responded to the body-shaming comments, but her remarks about beauty and well-being offer insight into how her priorities have changed after becoming a mother.
The online discussion has also drawn reactions from some of her former co-stars. Hrithik Roshan recently liked a social media post defending Kaif, while Ali Zafar spoke out against comments targeting her post-pregnancy appearance.
Katrina Kaif's work away from films
Kaif has largely stayed away from films since Merry Christmas, her 2024 release with Vijay Sethupathi. She has instead remained closely involved with Kay Beauty, the makeup brand she co-founded with Nykaa in 2019. The brand has since expanded into skincare.
Kaif and Vicky Kaushal welcomed their son Vihaan in November 2025 and publicly introduced him in January 2026.
