Mohammad Faizan Khan, a lawyer from Chhattisgarh, was arrested for threatening Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan and demanding ₹50 lakh
12-11-2024A man has been detained for allegedly threatening Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, police reported today. Mohammad Faizan Khan, a lawyer, was arrested at his home in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, for placing a threatening phone call to the 59-year-old actor and demanding a ransom of ₹50 lakh.
Faizan was apprehended after failing to comply with Mumbai Police's request to appear before them. Initially, he claimed that his phone, which was used to make the threat last week, had been stolen and that he had filed a police report on November 2.
The police filed charges against him under sections 308(4) (extortion involving threats of death or serious injury) and 351(3)(4) (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code, as the call was made from a phone registered in his name.
Shah Rukh Khan, affectionately known as "King Khan," had previously been targeted by a death threat last October following the success of his films "Pathaan" and "Jawan." In response, Mumbai Police increased his security, providing him with a Y+ security detail, which includes six armed personnel, an upgrade from the previous two.
This latest threat comes on the heels of a string of threats against actor Salman Khan, allegedly linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. Just last week, a 32-year-old man from Rajasthan was arrested in Karnataka after threatening Salman Khan, a day after the gangster Lawrence Bishnoi demanded a public apology or ₹5 crore from the actor over the killing of a sacred blackbuck.
