Leopards Kill 10 Cattle in Gurugram Village, Forest Department Takes Action
Two leopards enter Tikli village in Gurugram, causing fatalities among cattle, prompting forest officials to set up capturing cages
26-06-2024Two leopards entered a residential area in Gurugram, causing the death of at least 10 cattle as captured by CCTV footage from a cow shed in Tikli village. This incident has sparked concern among locals and prompted action from the forest department, which plans to install cages to capture the big cats.
Forest officials responded to the situation after reports of the leopards' presence, noting that such incidents had occurred recently in the same area. They emphasized the need for precautions, advising residents to secure cow sheds and possibly set traps to prevent further encounters.
In a statement to news agency ANI, a forest official highlighted the leopards' tendency to target cattle, which has led to their frequent visits to the area. Measures are being taken to address the situation, including the installation of two capturing cages to safely detain the leopards.
Earlier this year, a similar incident occurred when a 13-year-old boy was injured by a leopard while fetching water in a Gurugram village, underscoring ongoing wildlife-human interactions in the region.
