A lift in a high-rise building in Noida experienced a malfunction on Sunday night, shooting upward and crashing into the top floor due to brake failure, resulting in injuries to three individuals.

Officials reported that the incident occurred at Paras Tierea Society in Sector 137, Noida, where the lift, situated on the fourth floor of Tower 5, suddenly malfunctioned, causing it to ascend rapidly to the 25th floor. The impact of the crash damaged the roof of the tower.

"The lift experienced a technical fault, causing it to abruptly ascend. Despite the incident, all individuals within the lift were safely evacuated. Police personnel, including the station-in-charge, were present at the scene," stated the police.

Following the mishap, residents gathered on the premises, utilizing the stairs as both lifts of the tower were unavailable.

This incident is reminiscent of a tragedy last August when a 70-year-old woman lost her life due to a lift collapse in Tower 24 of the same high-rise.
