Lionel Messi Enjoys Vacation with Wife Antonela Following Argentina’s Copa America Win
Lionel Messi will miss the MLS All-Star Game due to an ankle injury, while vacationing in Florida with his family and Inter Miami teammate Luis Suarez
23-07-2024Lionel Messi, widely regarded as one of the greatest footballers of all time, is currently enjoying a vacation in Florida following Argentina’s victory in the Copa America 2024. Messi, a key figure in Argentina's recent international successes, is holidaying with his wife, Antonela Roccuzzo, and Inter Miami teammate Luis Suarez. Antonela shared vacation photos on Instagram, revealing Messi’s foot in a heavy bandage.
Messi and Suarez will be absent from Wednesday’s Major League Soccer (MLS) All-Star Game, as announced by the league and their team. The game, which features an MLS All-Stars squad against Liga MX All-Stars, will take place in Columbus, Ohio.
Inter Miami confirmed that Messi is sidelined with a right ankle injury sustained during Argentina’s Copa America final win over Colombia. Messi missed two MLS matches last week due to the same injury. Suarez is also out due to knee discomfort, which has kept him from participating in the All-Star Game after returning from international duty.
The All-Star Game would have been Messi’s debut appearance in the event since joining Inter Miami in July of the previous year. Messi, an eight-time Ballon d'Or winner, played a crucial role in Argentina's 2022 World Cup victory and led Inter Miami to the Leagues Cup title last year.
The availability of Messi and Suarez for Inter Miami’s upcoming match against Mexico’s Puebla on Saturday remains uncertain, and will depend on their "daily recovery process," according to the team.
