Indian representative Manika Vishwakarma, who will compete at Miss Universe 2025, captivated audiences with her breathtaking national costume. Her look, titled “The Birth of Enlightenment,” was designed as a tribute to India’s spiritual legacy and rich cultural history.

As she graced the stage, Manika’s appearance in a radiant golden ensemble reflected both pride and elegance. The host introduced her costume as an homage to the sacred moment when Gautama Buddha attained enlightenment beneath the Bodhi Tree, describing it as a symbolic portrayal of India’s deep philosophical traditions. Manika enhanced the performance with meaningful hand gestures that highlighted the costume’s spiritual narrative.

The shimmering outfit combined traditional Indian artistry with modern high-fashion elements. The full-length sculpted gown featured elaborate embroidery symbolizing prosperity, power, and divinity. Completing the look was an ornate golden headpiece that amplified her majestic presence on stage.

The entire ensemble celebrated one of Buddhism’s most revered moments—the transformation of Prince Siddhartha into the enlightened Buddha.

Manika later shared the inspiration behind her costume on Instagram. She explained that the design drew from India’s connection to Buddhism’s origins, echoing the moment of enlightenment at Bodh Gaya that spread peace and wisdom across the world. Crafted in hues of saffron and gold, the costume reflected purity, knowledge, and spiritual radiance.

She revealed that the structure of the look was inspired by ancient temple architecture, resembling the stupas and spires found in Sanchi and Bodh Gaya. The gold detailing mimicked the leaves of the Bodhi Tree, while the centerpiece—a glowing Dharma Chakra—symbolized the Eightfold Path and the universal cycle of moral law. A flowing saffron trail represented the robes worn by Buddhist monks, and the tiered headdress, crowned with a lotus, mirrored the sacred temple shikharas.

The 74th Miss Universe pageant is scheduled to be held on November 21, 2025, at the Impact Challenger Hall in Nonthaburi, Thailand. Manika Vishwakarma will represent India among more than 130 global contestants in this much-awaited international competition.
