At least 11 people were injured in a mass shooting at a nightclub in Queens, New York City, late Wednesday night, January 1. The chaotic scene outside the venue, filled with flashing lights and sirens, was captured in videos shared across social media.

The injured were rushed to nearby hospitals, including Long Island Jewish Hospital and Cohen Children’s Medical Center, according to sources cited by local media. The extent of their injuries remains unknown.

Authorities from the New York Police Department (NYPD) have not yet released any official details about the incident or potential suspects, leaving the motive for the shooting unclear.

The incident comes on the heels of another tragedy earlier that day in New Orleans, where a vehicle rammed into a crowd of New Year’s Day celebrants, killing 15 and injuring over 30. The driver, identified as 42-year-old Shamsud Din Jabbar, engaged in a gunfight with police and was fatally shot during the confrontation, according to witness reports and law enforcement sources.

Both events highlight the disturbing start to the new year, leaving communities grappling with grief and demanding answers. Investigations into both incidents are ongoing.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
